Pros And Cons of Seamless Steel Tubes

The seamless tube is made of strong steel blocks without any welds. Welds may represent weak areas (susceptible to corrosion, corrosion and general damage).

Compared with welded tubes, seamless tubes have a more predictable and more precise shape in terms of roundness and ovality.

The main disadvantage of seamless pipes is that the cost per ton is higher than ERW pipes of the same size and grade.

The lead time may be longer because there are fewer manufacturers of seamless pipes than welded pipes (compared to seamless pipes, the entry barrier for welded pipes is lower).

The wall thickness of the seamless tube may be inconsistent over its entire length, in fact the total tolerance is +/- 12.5%.
