Scaffolding Pipe, also known as scaffold tube or scaffolding steel tube, is a hot-rolled or welded steel pipe used as the primary structural component in temporary scaffolding systems for construction, maintenance, and industrial projects. These pipes form the vertical standards, horizontal ledgers, and diagonal braces that support work platforms, enabling safe access to elevated work areas for installation, inspection, painting, repair, and maintenance activities .

The most commonly used scaffolding tube has a nominal outside diameter of 48.3mm (1-1/2"), complying with international standards such as BS EN 39 and BS 1139, ensuring compatibility with standard scaffold couplers and fittings . A: The universally accepted international standard for scaffolding pipes is an outer diameter (OD) of 48.3 mm. However, we also manufacture other sizes for specific system scaffolds, including 38.1 mm, 42.4 mm, and 60.3 mm.

For wall thickness, the standard range is 3.2 mm to 4.0 mm (complying with EN 39 and BS 1139). We can also provide heavier wall thicknesses (e.g., 4.5 mm or 5.0 mm) for heavy-duty shoring or high-load-bearing applications.

Q: What is the difference between Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) and Pre-Galvanized scaffolding pipes?
A: The difference lies in the manufacturing process and corrosion resistance:

Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG): The finished pipe is immersed in molten zinc, creating a thick, highly durable coating (typically 45μm–85μm). HDG pipes are ideal for long-term outdoor construction, marine environments, and scaffolding rental companies due to their superior rust resistance.
Pre-Galvanized (Cold Galvanized): The steel coil is galvanized before being formed into a pipe. The zinc coating is thinner (15μm–30μm). These are more cost-effective and suitable for short-term indoor projects or painted scaffolding systems.

Q: Which international standards do your scaffolding pipes comply with?

Q: How do you package the scaffolding pipes for export?
A: Scaffolding pipes are usually packed in hexagonal bundles secured with steel strips. To protect the pipes and the galvanized coating during ocean freight, we wrap the bundles in waterproof tarpaulins or woven bags.
