What are the technical requirements for boiler heat exchanger steel tubes using seamless steel pipes according to NB/T47019-2021

First, what is the standard for seamless steel pipes according to NB/T47019-2021?
Replaces Standard: NB/T47019-2021 replaces NB/T47019.1~47019.8-2011, comprising nine parts.
Scope of Application: Specifies the ordering technical conditions for seamless and welded steel pipes for boilers and heat exchangers, applicable to both stationary and mobile pressure vessels.
Main Requirements: Includes the dimensions, shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificate of the steel pipe.

Second, what are the material specifications for seamless steel pipes according to NB/T47019-2021?
Room temperature performance materials, such as No. 20 steel, possessing good processing and welding properties, are suitable for some heat exchangers and superheaters where corrosion resistance requirements are not particularly high.
High-temperature performance materials, such as 15CrMo and 12Cr1MoV, maintain good mechanical properties at high temperatures, ensuring the reliability and safety of heat exchangers and superheaters during high-temperature operation.
Low-alloy steels for low-temperature applications: used in heat exchangers and superheaters operating in low-temperature environments to prevent brittle fracture at low temperatures.
Stainless steels, such as 304 and 316, possess excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and high-temperature strength, suitable for heat exchangers and superheaters with high corrosion resistance requirements.
Austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steels: combine the advantages of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, exhibiting good corrosion resistance, high strength, and good toughness.
Copper and copper alloys, such as oxygen-free copper, possess good thermal conductivity, suitable for heat exchangers with high heat transfer performance requirements.
Titanium and titanium alloys: possess extremely high corrosion resistance, low density, and high strength, offering unique advantages in special corrosive environments and applications where equipment weight is a concern.
Nickel and nickel alloys: Possessing excellent high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, they are commonly used in high-end equipment in petrochemical, marine engineering, and other fields.

Third, what are the dimensions and tolerances of seamless steel pipes according to NB/T47019-2021?
1) Outer diameter and wall thickness: The standard clearly specifies the permissible deviations for outer diameter and wall thickness. Different pipe diameters and wall thicknesses correspond to different deviation ranges, ensuring the dimensional accuracy of seamless steel pipes meets the assembly and usage requirements of boilers and heat exchangers. For example, the common outer diameter deviation of heat exchanger tubes may be between ±0.10mm and ±0.50mm, and the wall thickness deviation between ±0.10mm and ±0.30mm, with the specific values depending on the pipe diameter and wall thickness.
2) Length: Seamless steel pipes are typically available in fixed lengths and variable lengths. The permissible deviation for fixed lengths is generally 0 to +20mm, while the deviation for variable lengths is determined through negotiation between the supplier and the buyer, but should be specified in the contract.

Fourth, what are the technical requirements for seamless steel pipes according to NB/T47019-2021?
1) Chemical Composition: The chemical composition of heat exchanger tubes varies depending on the material. For example, for carbon steel, the carbon content is generally between 0.05% and 0.25%, with strict limits on the content of harmful elements such as sulfur and phosphorus. For stainless steel, the chromium content is between 17% and 19%, and the nickel content is between 8% and 11%.
2) Mechanical Properties: These include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and impact toughness. For example, the tensile strength of carbon steel heat exchanger tubes is generally between 335 MPa and 520 MPa, while that of stainless steel is between 520 MPa and 750 MPa. Elongation is generally required to be no less than 20% to 35%, as a higher elongation indicates better toughness in the seamless steel pipe.
3) Processing Performance: Seamless steel pipes are required to have good bending, flattening, and flaring properties. For example, the bending radius is generally not less than three times the outer diameter of the seamless steel pipe; during the flattening test, the steel pipe sample is pressed between two parallel plates to a specified distance (e.g., 3/4 of the outer diameter), and the seamless steel pipe is observed for signs of damage; the flaring test involves flaring one end of the seamless steel pipe to a specified flaring ratio (e.g., 10%~30%) and checking for defects such as cracks.
Non-destructive testing: Non-destructive testing, such as ultrasonic testing and eddy current testing, is usually required for seamless steel pipes to detect internal defects.

Fifth, what are the other requirements for seamless steel pipes in NB/T47019-2021?
1) Surface quality: The inner and outer surfaces of the seamless steel pipe should be clean and free from defects such as cracks, folds, rolling folds, delamination, hairline cracks, and scale. If these defects are present, they should be completely removed. The removal depth should not exceed the negative deviation of the nominal wall thickness, and the actual wall thickness at the cleaned area should not be less than the minimum allowable value of the wall thickness deviation.
2) Marking, Packaging, and Quality Certification Documents:
- Marking: Seamless steel pipes shall be clearly and accurately marked according to standard requirements, including information such as material, specifications, standard number, and manufacturer, for easy identification and traceability.
- Packaging: Appropriate packaging methods shall be adopted to prevent damage and corrosion of seamless steel pipes during transportation and storage. Generally, methods such as bundling, wrapping, or boxing are used, and relevant information and precautions shall be clearly marked on the packaging.
- Quality Certification Documents: The manufacturer shall provide quality certification documents, including material certificates, mechanical property test reports, and non-destructive testing reports, to prove that the seamless steel pipes meet the requirements of the NB/T47019-2021 standard.
